The National Culture Awards of the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) were created in 1995 so to correspond the value and transcendence of culture within the Catalan society.

The awards are given every year to those people or institutions that have been more relevant in each of the following cultural environments: Literature, Drama, Dance, Cinema, Audiovisual, Music, Design, Cultural Legacy, Social Projection of the Catalan Language, Popular Culture, Circus, Scientific Culture Thinking, Architecture and Public Space.
